Will I lose control in hypnosis and just do anything that the hypnotist says?
No, you always maintain your free will, and it’s important to understand this. During a hypnosis session, you take an active role in the process. Hypnosis is not a technique I impose on or against you. It’s a powerful communication tool we use together to realize your positive intentions.
While your imagination is more active during hypnosis, this doesn’t mean you lose control or blindly follow my suggestions. You can still reject suggestions. We’ll agree in advance on what you want to achieve so that all suggestions are carefully tailored to your goals for maximum effect.
Ironically, many people feel more in control during hypnosis. It’s a heightened state of awareness that allows you to gain deeper insights into your own thought processes and emotions. This understanding enables you to better comprehend how these aspects influence your beliefs, behaviors, and habits.
Many people seek hypnotherapy because they feel they’ve already lost control over a situation, such as smoking, overeating, or stress. Hypnosis helps resolve inner conflicts by fostering better communication between conscious and subconscious processes.
Therefore, hypnotic tools and methods can help you regain control where it has been lost.

What happens if I get a suggestion in trance that I don’t agree with?
You always have the choice to ignore a suggestion. This can happen in two ways:
- You remain in trance but reject the suggestion.
- You reject the suggestion and come out of trance.
In both cases, the process is just as simple as when you’re not in hypnosis.
Being open to suggestions doesn’t mean blindly following them. It helps you more easily imagine, feel, and change while still allowing you to choose which suggestions to accept.
Every suggestion I give is carefully crafted based on your positive intentions. We discuss these intentions beforehand to ensure every suggestion aligns with your goals.

Is it possible to get stuck in the trance?
No, that’s not possible. Just as you can’t get stuck in a daydream, you can’t get stuck in a deep, relaxing trance. If you don’t come out of trance, you may fall asleep and wake up later, or you naturally return to an active state. Many people actually wish to stay longer in a deep trance because it feels so pleasant. This is because your thinking has so calm, and your body is completely relaxed.
Trance arises from a strong focus of attention, where everything outside that focus fades into the background. This happens naturally every day, for example, when you’re engrossed in a book, movie, or conversation. Hypnotherapy harnesses this natural ability and directs it toward therapeutic goals.
There are many different types of trance. Simply put, a trance is the connection between the observer (you) and the observed (information or suggestion). Whatever you focus your attention on influences your subjective reality, creating your personal hypnosis.
Formula: Trance + Suggestion = Hypnosis.
Your beliefs and perceptions shape your personal hypnosis. This also means your identity creates a trance—a belief, perception, or way of viewing the world. People often seek hypnotherapy because they feel stuck in a trance that they perceive as problematic, such as blockages, unwanted habits, or trauma. They want to transition to a different hypnosis that supports them, such as freedom, solutions, or healing.
Hypnotherapy is an excellent method for making this transition. Through trance and powerful hypnotic suggestions, you can change your inner reality to better support you.
Other terms for trance include “tunnel vision” and “confirmation bias.”
It’s even possible to experience a trance within a trance. Your identity creates a trance, and within that identity, beliefs and perceptions arise that each influence your subjective reality in their own way. This layered nature makes hypnosis a powerful tool for creating change on multiple levels.

Do I have to be unconscious to be in trance?
No, you remain fully conscious and can still hear things around you. While a deep, relaxing trance may sometimes seem like unconsciousness, most people actually experience heightened awareness. This is because their ability to concentrate is increased.
You don’t even need to close your eyes to enter a trance. Trance can occur while standing, sitting, or lying down, with your eyes open or closed—similar to daydreaming. It’s about entering a state of focused attention, not losing consciousness.
–
Do I have to have a weak mind to go into hypnosis?
No, you don’t need to have a weak will to be hypnotized. Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon that anyone can experience, as long as they are open to it and willing. Hypnosis is something you do yourself, using your intelligence, concentration, emotions, and imagination.
Throughout the process, you always retain the free will to decide what does or doesn’t happen. The hypnotist simply guides you through the process and ensures it is smooth, comfortable, and effective.
–
Will I tell my secrets in hypnosis?
No, your secrets remain your own. In hypnosis, you only share what you choose to share. In fact, people can even lie while in hypnosis. Hypnosis doesn’t compel you to reveal anything; you always retain control over what you say.
–
Do people in hypnosis do exactly what the hypnotist says, or do they still have free will?
No, people in hypnosis always have free will and can reject suggestions.
What you’ve seen in hypnosis comedy shows heavily depends on the context. Volunteers know beforehand that they will do funny and sometimes silly things to entertain the audience. Only those who voluntarily agree to participate take part. They choose to attend the show, willingly pay for their ticket, and step onto the stage of their own accord.
No one is forced. Participants follow the hypnotist’s suggestions only as long as they align with their values, principles, and the context of the show. This means they only engage in actions they feel comfortable with and that fit the shared understanding of entertaining the audience.
Hypnosis in a Show: A Comparison to Film
You can compare a hypnosis show to a film set:
- The hypnotist acts as the director.
- The volunteers are the actors.
- The suggestions are the instructions for the scene.
When the director says, “Action!” the actors perform the scene. Similarly, volunteers in a hypnosis show act out suggestions when the hypnotist says, “1-2-3.”
The difference?
- Actors can self-hypnotize to fully immerse themselves in their roles. They focus their attention on a single idea, as if it’s real, to evoke emotions and reactions that seem genuine.
- Volunteers in a hypnosis show do the same: they use their imagination, intelligence, and concentration to visualize and act out the suggestions.
The Power of Context and Choice
Participants only accept suggestions that align with their values and principles. Suggestions that are foolish, dangerous, or outside the context are automatically rejected. For example, if a hypnotist were to say, “Set yourself on fire,” no one would comply. It’s irresponsible and far beyond the boundaries of a comedy show.
Additionally, hypnotists in shows often select extroverted, creative people who enjoy being in the spotlight. These individuals find it fun to entertain the audience and put effort into making the show a success. If a volunteer repeatedly rejects suggestions, they are simply sent back to their seat without further participation.
The Role of Emotions and Imagination
Just as a great movie captivates you, evokes emotions, and makes you respond to fictional situations, the same happens in a hypnosis show. Even though everyone knows it’s not real, the emotions and sensations feel authentic. This is the power of focus, imagination, and voluntary engagement.
Volunteers in a hypnosis show use their creativity to create humorous scenes. This doesn’t mean they do everything the hypnotist says; they always retain their free will.
In short, hypnosis only works within the limits of what someone accepts. People always have the choice to reject a suggestion, and their moral and personal boundaries remain intact.

If I’m skeptical about hypnosis, will it affect the outcome?
It’s completely okay to be skeptical. In fact, healthy skepticism is wise—you don’t have to believe everything without question.
Even with a skeptical mindset, you can use hypnosis to achieve your positive intentions, as long as you remain open to trying something new and give hypnosis a fair chance. The more you support the process with an open attitude, the right mindset, and trust in its potential, the greater the chance of success.
The Role of Mindset
Hypnosis, like many things in life, works better with a positive mindset. A negative mindset makes you focus more on what doesn’t work, which can hinder your progress.
A positive mindset, on the other hand, makes it easier to achieve positive results. You don’t need to “believe in” hypnosis because it’s not a belief system. Hypnosis is a natural phenomenon that happens automatically, much like breathing. Whether you believe in it or not, your brain is naturally receptive to suggestions.
Hypnosis is Not a Matter of Belief
Think of it like breathing: you don’t need to believe in it—it happens anyway. Just as with breathing, hypnosis is a factual process, not a matter of faith. However, negative thoughts about hypnosis can influence your mental attitude and interfere with the results.
A negative belief is simply a thought that temporarily appears in your consciousness, happens, and then fades away. It’s not a fact. Beliefs can change, and you don’t have to let them hold you back.
The Power of a Positive Mindset
Instead of focusing on beliefs, work on cultivating a positive mindset. Regularly ask yourself:
“How can I make the most of this?”
Use the answers to take action and make progress. Mistakes are opportunities to learn, and failures bring you closer to success because you’re constantly learning, both consciously and unconsciously.
Turn Skepticism into Curiosity
When you use hypnosis to achieve your positive intentions, allow yourself to believe it will work. This lets you honestly and objectively assess afterward how much it has helped you.
So even if you’re skeptical, stay open to possibilities, focus on solutions, and be willing to embrace positive changes. With the right mindset, you can use hypnosis effectively to achieve your goals.

Is hypnosis a magical power?
No, hypnosis is not a magical power. The real power lies within you. Hypnosis helps you discover and harness your inner strengths to your advantage.
Our reality is shaped by our thoughts and feelings. Everything ever created by people started as a thought or feeling. Thoughts and feelings lead to actions, actions trigger reactions, and in this way, something eventually becomes reality.
Our imagination and emotions are so powerful that they can shape and influence our subjective reality. Properly applied hypnosis taps into this inner strength to create positive and lasting changes in your life.
